Rescue Diver

The PADI Rescue course (diver, lifeguard), is the first part of your dive training; that’s when we start focusing on “assistance to other divers”, how to anticipate problems and handle emergency situations. During these three days, you will have both theory training and a rescue techniques course.

To take this course, you must be certified by a first aid organization. We recommend EFR courses.

The Rescue Diver course lasts from 2 to 3 days and it is both rewarding and fun. You will learn more about diving and get more experienced. The Rescue Diver course teaches you how to go beyond yourself and think about the safety and well-being of other divers. This course is serious but it is taught in a fun and live way, to make you feel more confident, while simulating potentially real life situations. Rescue Diver will teach you how to prevent problems and, if necessary, how to handle dive emergencies.

During the 12 training sessions, you will learn:

  • First aid for diving injuries,
  • First aid for injuries due to marine life,
  • Emergency procedures,
  • Use of rescue material,
  • Distress identification,
  • Self rescue,
  • Assistance to transport patients,
  • Missing, unconscious or submerged divers,
  • Underwater artificial breathing,
  • Creation and notification of an accident report.

The PADI Rescue Diver is a prerequisite for all levels of PADI professional courses, starting by the Divemaster certification.

It is also required for the Master Scuba Diver certification, the highest level of PADI recreational diving.
